EmploymentIEC has been serving both elementary and junior high public schools in the Tokyo area since 1995. Our network of teachers, administrators and educators has built our reputation as being serious and committed to provding quality English Education to our students.

Teachers for IEC have the opportunity to be a teacher at a public school, develop as teachers with IEC colleagues, attend and/or present at educational workshops, and to further learn about TEFL. We work hard to promote our teachers as part of the teaching staff rather than an adjunct to it. To this end we schedule teachers to work at their school for the entire school day not just for the lessons required. We believe that English education doesn't end with the classroom so our continued presence in the school offers a myriad of opportunities for further interaction with students and fellow teaching staff.

Our teachers receive monthly pay including summer vacation and winter vacation paid in full. Transportation is paid on top of regular pay. We also offer 5 personal leave/"sick" days for full-time positions in addition to company-planned holidays. Throughout the year, we provide staff support for both teaching and school relationship-building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Are Summer vacations paid for?
A) Yes, IEC employees are paid the same monthly amount for the period of the contract.

Q) What is the difference between an ALT and an NT?
A) NT is an acronym for "Native [English-speaking] Teacher". It is often referred to in Japan as ALT (Assistant language Teacher) but we prefer to promote our teachers as part of the school's teaching staff rather than as an assistant to it.
