Dōjinshi (同人誌) are self-published comic works created by Japanese fans of manga and novels and are the major attraction for the 500,000 people who visit the three-day event. As dōjinshi works are amateur creations made by fans, each piece is extremely rare and caters specifically for unique tastes.
The other big draw is the cosplay, as it’s also one of the biggest events in the year to see cosplayers of all varieties on show. While GaijinPot filmed the Cosplay at Comiket we were given an introduction to the event by one of the helpful guys working the show floor.

Comiket runs twice a year, for three days at a time – Summer Comiket is in August and the Winter Event (which GaijinPot attended) is in December.
For more on Comiket, Wikipedia has pretty comprehensive article and you can check the official site on how to go yourself here. Would you be interested in cosplaying at the next one?
